We, Salcombe Community Gospel Choir (SCGC) are a fairly informal fun choir of around 50 singers. Our members come from a variety of backgrounds – some local to Salcombe, some not. We have 2 seasons of rehearsals, meeting Thursday evenings at 7.30pm in Holy Trinity Church, Salcombe. We break for 2 months in the summer as many of us are busy running businesses and working during the Salcombe holiday season.

As well as our regular rehearsals we perform at weddings, funerals, parties and local festivals and we hold an annual fund-raising charity concert. We also lead the music ministry at a variety of church services, in particular the evening worship every 3rd Sunday of the month at 6.30pm in Holy Trinity.

SCGC has been blessed to have lots of input and leadership from a range of talented musicians, including Jo Williams (joint founding member), Derek Harwood (choir director) and Moira Greening (choir director). We have enjoyed gospel workshops led by Callington Community Gospel Choir, Geraldine Latty and Carey Luce, Black Voices and the Ermington Samba Band ‘Crooked Tempo’. We also have rhythm section support at some of our gigs from Andy Tunbridge (bass guitar), Alan Inder (drums), Max Evans (saxophones) and technical support from Rob Wheeler.
